Faculty Information
Faculty members from BC Central or FAU Davie may place books and other course-related materials (including personal copies) on reserve for student use. While every effort will be made to protect personal material, the Library cannot be responsible for lost or damaged materials. All material placed on course reserve must comply with the Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S. Code). In compliance with copyright law, only one copy of photocopied materials may be placed on reserve. Exceptions to this rule are articles authored by the faculty member, solutions to problems of an unpublished nature, and federal or state laws or cases.
Forms for placing material on reserve are available online, on the library Web page, or at the Check Out/Check In Desk. A form should be completed and submitted with the reserve material. Allow five working days for the material to be processed. While students cannot access your reserve material online, they may search the “Reserves List” on the U/C Library’s Catalog Web page to see if the material is ready for use. At the end of each term, all reserve material will be returned to the faculty member unless prior arrangements have been made for continued reserve status. FAU Faculty can also put materials on e-reserves at the Boca campus library.

Copyright Restrictions
NOTICE: WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
THE COPYRIGHT LAW OF UNITED STATES (TITLE 17, UNITED STATES CODE) GOVERNS THE MAKING OF PHOTOCOPIES OR OTHER REPRODUCTIONS OF COPYRIGHT MATERIAL UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS SPECIFIED IN THE LAW. LIBRARIES AND ARCHIVES ARE AUTHORIZED TO FURNISH A PHOTOCOPY OR OTHER REPRODUCTION. ONE OF THESE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS IS THAT THE PHOTOCOPY OR REPRODUCTION IS NOT TO BE "USED FOR ANY PURPOSE OTHER THAN PRIVATE STUDY, SCHOLARSHIP, OR RESEARCH." IF A USER MAKES A REQUEST FOR, OR LATER USES, A PHOTOCOPY OR REPRODUCTION FOR PURPOSES IN EXCESS OF "FAIR USE", THAT USER MAY BE LIABLE FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT. THIS INSTITUTION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE TO ACCEPT A COPYING ORDER IF, IN ITS JUDGMENT FULFILLMENT OF THE ORDER WOULD INVOLVE VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT LAW.
Copyright & Reserves
Faculty members may place books and other materials (including personal copies) on reserve. All materials placed on reserve must comply with the Copyright Law. In an effort to help us abide by the Copyright Law, please familiarize yourself with and to adhere to the law by viewing these recommended web sites and tutorials.
In compliance with Copyright Law, faculty members may reproduce one copy of a work NOT his or her own to be placed on reserve. To reproduce multiple copies of the same work is a violation of the Copyright Law. A faculty member is allowed to reproduce up to five copies only with a permission letter. If a permission letter is not in hand at the time the faculty member wishes to place the multiple copies on reserve then she/he must show proof that a permission letter is already in process. Permission is not needed for solutions to problems of an unpublished nature, the instructor's own articles, and federal or state laws or cases.
